This Song Deserves More Attention; 'You Got Me'

'You Got Me' by Ricky Scott ft. John Emil

Although the track ‘You Got Me’ isn’t exactly a recent release I feel that this song deserves more attention than what it received upon it’s release.

The original acoustic mix is personally my favourite as it builds into and expands beyond a scope making you feel like you are taking an extra breath of life as it pulls you into a journey with smooth unforced vocals from John Emil, enticing you closer.

The vocals are produced ever so well without the over use of reverb, giving this a very personal and up close vibe before it builds with the remaining production of beautiful guitar and the sparse drum programming.

The song written by Ricky Scott is one in which he should be proud, this is a writer who knows what he’s doing and knows how do it well.

Other mixes include the ‘Sonic Construction Remix’ giving it a new take with pretty piano lines popping in along with cool electronic pads as the electro drumming beats build, filling it out as it moves along before stripping it right back to a dreamy state with lots of space.

Then there’s the ‘Doppelstern Remix’ which is more of an upbeat electronic dance feel, again changing the track completely; perfect for the dance floor.

The fourth version (mix) is the ‘Tim Techlor Remix’ which places the vocals back in the mix with what I would resemble, or close to an indigenous electronic feel, the constant driving beat and sound bounces around you before it hits you with an intense overdriven element of surprise with its funky rock electro beat; this is all just too cool!
