The Kind Of Blues Rock That Will Want To Make You Jump On Tables

One Step from Everywhere

“Do Some Living” from the “Somewhere in Between” album

Somewhere in Between EP

Blues rock! You know the kind, right? The one that is sweaty and hard hitting and soulful and makes you want to jump on tables and bang your head about. If that’s your thing, then you will be well served to buy and listen to this new album from One Step from Everywhere.

Following their great first EP, the band confirms here their style, which successfully blends blues, rock and soul, with a sound that draws from southern rock as well, something that their Seattle location wouldn’t make so obvious. In this new album, they serve song after song of a tasteful menu.

On this “Do Some Living” song, starting strong with a killer riff, while the guitar interplay is really well done, the song is reminiscent of the best of the Allman Brothers. Throughout, the addition of keyboards does give the band a characteristic flavor, a touch of extra sophistication, while the groove of the “Somewhere in Between” with its extended (almost Santana-esque) guitar solo is well sustained by added percussion.

Grab that new album asap for your dose of savvy blues-rock from a band that knows what they are doing!

Verdict: 5/5 beards
