Mountain Head – We Stole Your Head
I have heard a lot of new music so far this year – some of it good, some of it not so good and some that has taken me by surprise. We Stole Your Head by Mountain Head falls into the latter category. A sort of pop-rock number with nods to modern psychedelic outfits like Tame Impala and quirky alternative acts like Architecture in Helsinki, We Stole Your Head manages to merge a range of influences into a track that demands repeat listens.
Starting with a simple guitar line, the track builds to an anthemic chorus that had me singing along by the end of its four-minute play time. But the real strength of this song lies in its ability to reveal new depths and elements on repeated listens. The arrangements and instrumentation are spot on, and it is a testament to the production on display here that what seems so simple the first time around can actually be so richly rewarding upon closer inspection.
So, to quote a very famous music reviewer, do yourself a favour and check out We Stole Your Head by Mountain Head. This is a band that deserves to be heard and I am fairly certain you won’t be disappointed if you give it a chance.
