Independent alternative pop artist Magdalen releases her new single today, 10 May 2019, set to be available on all major music platforms. This single marks the first in a series for Magdalen, showing a reinvention and innovation of her sound, creating dreamy, atmospheric trap infused pop. ‘Fireworks’ is an ode to the ecstasy of excitement and how addictive it becomes, but like with any addiction, it is contradicted by the feeling of coming back down to earth. The music video, directed by Cameron Stott, is slated to be released on 24 May.
Magdalen has said about the new single that she wanted to write a song that was a “bittersweet anthem for my generation” and after spending, “many nights at parties, I observed how people constantly want to escape their lives and crave excitement but they will inevitably have to come back down and face whatever they are trying to run away from.”
Magdalen is a nineteen year old, Manchester based singer, songwriter, and producer. She grew up in a musical household but eventually found her own voice through teaching herself how to make beats in her bedroom. After that, she began making music through marrying atmospheric lo-fi production and distinctive dreamy melodies. She gains inspiration from other powerful female artists like Grimes and Charli XCX to push the boundaries of pop music.
