London based R&B artist, Nikita KC released a new single called It’s Not Good Enough. The first official screening of the music video happened at the single launch event on the 25th of September at Freedom bar in Soho which was also followed by an online premiere.
Nikita embarked on an inevitable journey of personal growth and now, with an extra dose of heartbreak and a chapter full of soul searching, she is determined to share her story through her music and visuals, delivering an under-lying message of loving yourself first.
“...life happens, love comes and goes...I’m all about capturing the root emotion and delivering it in the form of a catchy chorus” says Nikita when describing her songwriting. And that gives us just enough information to know that her storytelling music will always leave a mark. Nikita also says "“It’s not good enough” depicts the hurt and disbelief felt after finding out that the lover in question, referenced as “Mr Gunmetal Grey”, has moved on with someone else.” The song highlights the confusion felt after a strong bond is suddenly broken, leaving an empty feeling of frustration and a barrel of un-answered questions.
She discovered her passion for writing songs in her early teen years whilst listening heavily to the pop and R&B of that time. The artist’s she was influenced by include Jojo, Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, Neyo, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys. Her writing style developed as she began to write based on her personal life and experiences, penning her first love song inspired by a guy she had developed strong feelings for. From then on she continued to follow her emotions and let words and melodies get expressed through music she creates.
