T8000 – Telepathic TV Set (EP)
Ok – so full disclosure here – T8000 is a Pink Dolphin Music label mate. And like me, he makes electronic music that embodies a number of styles and influences. So, there was a fair chance that, when this arrived for me to review, I was going to like it.
And I do.
Hailing from the UK, Liam White (aka T8000) has been making electronic music under a number of aliases for the last two decades. This certainly shows in the range of genres, both past and present, that inform his own approach on the “Telepathic TV Set” EP.
At once eclectic and coherent, T8000 moves effortlessly from pairing Jean-Michel Jarre with glitched house sounds on “Cinema” to darker, industrial sounds on “Blue Vector” to slower, world music inspired sounds on “Forever Evolving”. The highlight for me is the title track that sees T8000 seamlessly meld his influences into a track held together by a familiar acid line.
Telepathic TV Set was a pleasure to review. Whilst some of you might say that this is simply bias, I challenge you to have a listen to this this yourself and make up your own mind. I am certain that - like me - you will find it a richly rewarding listen.
Simon says 4 out of 5 stars.
