Indie Soul Crooner, Ruben Young Releases Smooth New Single, 'Golden Hell'

Ruben Young is an emerging, independent R&B/Pop artist & songwriter from Calgary, Canada. Ruben’s raspy timbre and modern soul- crooner vibe breathes influence from Marvin Gaye, to Anderson Paak, to Amy Winehouse.


In 2017, Ruben released his first three singles independently. His efforts generated over two million streams, and earned him a place on stage as direct support for international artists such as The Chainsmokers, Nelly, Akon and Classified. A true cross-over artist and writer, Young earned cross-platform charting success in multiple genres including Spotify Viral Canada (#13), Hype Machine Global (#8), and iTunes’ Electronic (#4), R&B (#8) and Pop (#28) categories


Young’s most recent single, “Bad Habits” (Aug 2017), produced by multi-platinum, JUNO award winning artist/producer Classified, was named “one of the best Canadian songs” of September by Complex Magazine’s Northern Touch List.

The song was performed live on Global Television’s National Morning Show, and has since racked up over 550,000 streams on Spotify.


Ruben is currently nominated for Urban Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, as well as Male Artist, and Pop Recording of the Year at the YYC (Calgary) Music Awards. Ruben is also a developing independent Pop and R&B topline and lyric writer.


His writing experience includes sessions with: Hodgy (Odd Future), T-Minus (Drake, Justin Bieber), Chin Injeti (Eminem, P!NK), Kuya Productions (Alessia Cara, JRDN), Classified, Slakah The Beatchild, Delaney Jane, Banx & Ranx (Ella Eyre, Olly Murs), Jocelyn Alice, DJ Agile (Nas), Quake Matthews, Myles Castello, Claire Mortifee and many more.
