Leading Hollywood Manager Trisanne Marin Talks 2019 Pilot Season

One of Hollywood's best talent managers "Trisanne Marin" discusses the 2019 Hollywood pilot season and her 3 tips she recommended for actors to get ahead.

Head of the Youth Department at LA Management in Hollywood, Trisanne says her top 3 tips for 2019 are.

Coach Make sure you have a couple of great, reliable acting coaches you can call to do private coaching before each pilot audition. By working with your coach on the material, you are ensuring you put your best foot forward each and every time. Working with a skilled coach can sometimes mean the difference between booking a series regular or not. Have multiple coach names on hand, as coaches are often particularly busy during this season. Do Your Research Research each pilot you read for thoroughly. Often there are press releases in trade publications regarding pre-production of the pilot. In addition to the help of IMDbPro, study the writers, producers, and casting directors past work. (Watching an episode of the creator's past show(s) can be very helpful, for instance.) This will likely give you clues to the feel of the pilot. Many times writers, producers, and casting will work on similar projects; most do not deviate much from the genre in which they have found success. Make Six Month Career Goals In addition to writing down yearly career goals, make goals for six month periods of time. This will not only make your yearly goals feel more attainable, it will help keep you on track during pilot season. Writing down goals and putting them in a place where you can see them every day will not only keep you accountable, but it will also help motivate you to stay up late learning lines or kick your exercise routine into high gear on your Bondi to Bronte morning runs. Whatever your six moth goals, think of them as a wish list, rather than a list of chores. In other words, when you reach the goal, it should be something that you are really excited to accomplish. Secondly, make sure that your goals are specific. You have to know when you can celebrate your accomplishments, right? Last, but not least; dare to dream. You are on the right track if your goals feel somewhat scary. Set goals that are a little beyond your comfort zone and that you are unsure you can accomplish. This will not only push you to go the extra mile, but will help instill faith in yourself and make you believe in what is possible. As Mark Twain once wrote, "Why not go out on a limb, that's where the fruit is."
