Austin Colon; Love Frail from The Path Ahead

Austin Colon

“Love, Frail” from the “The Path Ahead” album

The Path Ahead

Where ambient sounds and mood merge with poetry and pop sensibility, you get a beautiful album which is a mystical journey of meditation of loss, sorrow but also optimism and joy.

With inspiration coming from diverse influences like Bon Iver, Radiohead or Neil Young, Austin draws a tapestry of sounds that serves his poetry in a very effective way throughout the album. A very distinctive voice floating on top of lush instrumentation, with a particular attention to ambience and mood does every justice to his evocative lyrics.

The “Love, Frail” song in particular kept my attention throughout, with its lush bed of synths, reverse guitars and lyrics delivered in an emotional way that is reminiscent of Peter Gabriel. This track with its quasi hypnotic scansion has the kind of tension that could easily become a stadium concert finale.

Don’t miss this very personal album, it will taunt you and haunt you with its inner beauty.

Verdict: 5/5 beards
