2018 has been pretty bloody good to Perth's Black Stone from the Sun; the release of their debut album Dreamalysis, national touring, festival slots, airplay far and wide...the grunge-punk duo have a lot to be thankful for, but it's their ethos of hard work and a love for tearing up local stages that'll see the band continue their trajectory into 2019.
Following on from bone-shattering single Smile In A Daze, BSFTS are currently swinging all attention to live favourite Butterflies, a cut that vocalist/guitarist Sean Mackay describes as their grunge ballad from the album. "Butterflies was the song that took the longest to write. We were constantly changing riffs and melody ideas until we felt it sounded right. Lyrically the song is about questioning your own self worth and dealing with bad feelings that one might have."
With plans to head back into the studio over summer between shows, Black Stone from the Sun will be seeing out 2018 with what will no doubt be a brutally chaotic set on New Year's Eve with local pals Gyroscope, Axe Girl and many more.
"There's plenty to like about this chunky, impassioned rock.” Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed
