Nigel Brown's Ghost Of Love

Nigel Brown

“Ghost of Love” from the “Sleepwalking Home” album

This one is not the latest from Nigel Brown, but the one I discovered first. It is to be noted though that this guy has a pretty wide discography that I engage you to discover, along with soundtrack music that stands on its own as well…

With a soft vocal that is both relaxed and soothing, Nigel Brown’s style is somewhere between the Beatles, Folk-Rock and Soft-Rock. On this album, and this song in particular, I hear the influence of Dire Straits, in the crystal-clear open sound of the Fender Strat that dominates his arrangements. There are worst influences than that, really!

On this one, I really like the way the simple arpeggio of the acoustic guitar that is opening the track is answered by the wailing of the electric, and the mandolin added on top. The vocal harmonies are also really cool and help the track soar during the chorus. Also, I could I resist a song about a ghost?

Verdict: 5/5 beards Far from the maddening crowd, Nigel is producing solid music that needs more listeners!
