DIDI
“Fickle Friends"
With this new single full of energy and attitude, the UK songwriter/producer extraordinaire is back in full swing and ready to rock your socks off.
She confirms here her chops as a songwriter, in a style that’s coming from the best part of the punk genre, but with a voice of her own.
Of course, the producer here has more than one trick in her sleeves and this track is again very well done and so catchy that it will be hard to resist jumping on the tables when it plays.
It doesn’t take its time to hit you in the face, starting right off the bat with a very short fade in that goes right into the first verse, then from the many start/stops that catch you off guard and make you take notice, the raw sound that’s punchy and dynamic, and that voice that rages and seduces at the same time, it’s pretty hard to find faults in this recording again.
I particularly like the instrumental bridge with its syncopated cadences that wouldn’t feel too out of place in a math rock or even a progressive rock tune, which shows how much the song goes beyond the expectations of pure punk rock.
Another tasty rocker that will go well with the other Didi singles of your collection.
Verdict: 5/5 beards
