Alyssa Tess | Nothing Compares to Her Own Original Songs

Alyssa Tess

If you're looking for music that will move you, Alyssa Tess is the perfect artist for you. Her songs find a way to be relatable to almost any person with the emotion that she brings to each song that she writes.

She is twenty one years old and based out of Georgian Bay, Canada. Music has been a part of her life since she can remember. While she had been singing since she could talk, Alyssa began to play piano at the young age of seven. Like many musicians that were born to play, this progressed into wanting to learn more instruments. At the age of ten, Alyssa asked for a guitar for her birthday but she jokes "apparently my ten year old fingers couldn't handle the pain". She officially began learning the guitar when she was twelve and hasn't stopped since.

While she's able to crack out some amazing covers of her favourite songs, nothing compares to her own original songs. Alyssa no doubt takes the emotions that are closest to her heart and uses that for her songwriting inspiration. Her songs have a way of capturing the audience, making them hold on to every last word that she sings.

In 2017, Alyssa released her EP Twenty/Twenty with four equally amazing songs. When asked about how she writes her music, she explains that she is a very sensitive person, so writing allows her to understand the emotions that she is experiencing.

Her songs not only cause a listener to feel her emotions, but the storyline that is depicted through each song is something that makes her music so special. Songs such as "Missing You" and "My Guitar" display this perfectly.

Alyssa is heavily inspired by Ed Sheeran's music, as she feels that their styles are very similar. The pop-folk sound that both of them share allow for their lyrics to stand out, and make it easy for any person to tap their foot along.

Alyssa is currently attending Humber College for her Bachelor in Music Voice. She plans to take on music full time, which she is obviously excited about. She says that her favourite things about being a musician are "(1) You get to sing somewhere other than the shower and get paid for it. (2) You get to meet and collaborate with the coolest, most talented and amazing humans you'll ever find, and (3) you get to do what you love every single day".

With the positive outlook that she has on her bright future, there is nothing stopping this young and talented artist.

If you're interested in viewing such an amazing talent live, she will be performing in The Georgian Triangle Music Festival at the Boston Pizza in Wasaga Beach, Ontario at 2:00pm!
