Duncan Saige shares infectious new single 'Pumping Up My Life'
Stepping out last year from his role as frontman/guitarist with accomplished Perth indie-surf-rockers Stillwater Giants, Margaret River native Henry Clarke is pleased to announce the next chapter of Duncan Saige with his irresistible new single Pumping Up My Life.
Using audio samples he recorded from a petrol bowser in the South West to create the rhythm of the song, Henry has decidedly taken a DIY approach to his sound by also producing and mixing. The single still carries a trademark catchy melody enveloped in acoustic guitars, but this earworm perhaps draws upon elements of Ariel Pink, Mac DeMarco and The Easybeats.
Lyrically the song comments on the over-induglence some people feel they need to fit into the modern, fast-paced world, whilst still encouraging us all to take on those Y.O.L.O moments.
As most singer-songwriters do, Henry has gradually assembled various ideas and riffs over time, but a difference in direction started to forge and reveal the new creative Duncan Saige outlet.
Fast forward countless hours of craft later and the result was I'm Saved, an EP's worth of material to release and tour upon. Featuring first single I Notice You, which racked up spins on triple j and countless other key community stations, the title track I'm Saved was also another infectious slice of songwriting.
Thriving in a solo setting as well as fronting his four-piece band (that already have Falls Festival and Fremantle Folk Festival under their belt), Duncan Saige will be touring throughout WA in support of Pumping Up My Life while also putting the finishing touches on a new EP due for release later this year.
