New Zealand’s beloved legacy band The Narcs announce the release of a new single and music video Summerhill Stone. The Narcs released their new single on itunes in early March to coincide with the band’s appearance, on their own home turf at Canterbury’s Selwyn Sounds Festival, before a crowd of 15,000.

Summerhill Stone was also included on New Tracks - NZ On Airs’ April Compilation to radio of new releases by New Zealand artists. Now during New Zealand Music month, the song comes alive with the release of a new music video. (Below)


Summerhill Stone was a brand of coloured concrete brick popular for affordable housing in 1950s and 60s Christchurch - it came in many pastel colours and never needed painting.

The Narcs’ new single drives the listener around Bishopdale and the old suburbs of western Christchurch.

It’s where you grew up, the conformity you rebelled against, what you moved away from, and it’s still there.


Over the band’s 38 year career, The Narcs have attracted new fans with their fusion of South Island and Sydney-drenched rock’n’roll. From playing their first gig in Christchurch in 1980 and first EP 'No Turning Back' (1983) . The band has had a slew of radio and video hits including 'Heart and Soul', 'Lazy Susan', ‘Diamonds on China’ and ‘Abandoned By Love’.


The Narcs’ recording legacy includes three studio albums: ‘The Great Divide’ (1984), also a name that the band was marketed in Australia, whilst there they recorded the self titled album ‘The Narcs’ (1986) at the famed Music Farm Recording Studio in Mullumbimby under legendary producer Tim Kramer and finally 'Push The Boat Out' (1996), and a compilation 'Best of The Narcs' (2002).


Summerhill Stone now sets the band to return, with more recorded works, and to enjoy the current resurgence and popularity of legacy bands of the 80s’.

The Narcs will once again perform live to the audiences that loved them and grew up with their sounds.
