“Man of action” from the “Hearbeat of the World” album
World5 is an international band, formed from seasoned musicians now spread out all over the world but still collaborating online to bring their special kind of music.
Their style is definitely big rocking songs, kind of half way between Toto and U2/Simple Minds/Duran Duran/Talk-Talk and all of those in the so-called 80s New Wave but played with some funky grooves from a rock-solid rhythm section.
This song “Man of Action” from their latest album “Heart Beat of the World” is the perfect illustration of their style, with that pounding rhythm section, tight and steady, the funky syncopated guitar and these awesome horns stabs that kind of say: “Try that for size!”.
The guitar could have been played by a Steve Lukather, the vocals are powerful and funky.
Everything here screams “big production”, something that could have been a featured song in a James Bond movie.
An anthem of a song, and one that can hardly be called “indie”, but from a band that has been haunting the unsigned scene for years and that should have hit big time already.
Verdict: 5/5 beards
