Winter 2017 sees Cambridge based artist PYRAMID PARK release the second single Born to Be Brave from their debut album Vulnerability.
Recorded in Glasgow at Gloworm Studio’s with producer Iain Hutchison, the alternative pop artist and Hutchison created an album based on their mutual faith. References are as broad as Phoria, Two Door Cinema Club and Gabriel Khane.
Having performed stacks of events across the UK and Europe (including Freakstock Festival, Germany and Graceland Fest, Netherlands) McAllen has racked up a name for himself as a passionate and thought provoking performer.
PYRAMID PARK released their debut album “Vulnerability” on Friday 8th September in Cambridge.
“We think the best place to launch the album is in front of people who have helped fund the album. We managed to raise £12,000 thanks to our generous fans, and this is a small way of thanking them.”
The band have also just completely another crowd funder - to release their album on vinyl.
This song began while listening to a bunch of demo’s by a friend who’s a producer. He had given it to me to see if I’d be able to do a vocal on any of the tracks. I was travelling to get my guitars repaired and for most of the journey I had a chorus melody going round and round in my head.
While thinking it was a strong idea, I didn’t realise it would take a whole year to finish this song, during which the rest of the album would already be written.
Having shelved the chorus idea for so long, with many failed attempts to complete it, I teamed up with a friend Feranmi Oguns, who produces, and also drummer for Jake Isaac. We spent ages working through what the song was - the chorus, was it really a chorus or a bridge or pre chorus?
Feranmi’s white board where we wrote lyric ideas was full but none of it seemed to work, and our chemistry was waning. Then somehow, somewhere, we managed to find a bridge. “Mountain high, I’ll show no fear. Valley low, I know you’re near.” So simple, but it lifted the song and enabled us to work out how the verses should be structured. By the end of the session we were jumping up and down chanting the song!
