We are Cosmic Park and we are a three piece pre-teen rock band from Ardglass, Northern Ireland.
We are Sean O'Shea (age 11) on vocals, Cailean McStravick (age 10) on guitars and Sophie Meharg (age 11) on drums.
We formed in early 2017 after we had performed separately in our school talent competition. Realising we shared a love of music we decided to form a band and started rehearsing together and writing music. We spent months rehearsing, jamming, learning to play together, getting to know each other and searching for a style of music that suited us.
After a lot of rehearsing we got an offer from Ethical Earth Records to sign with them.
Signing with a label and working with a producer has taught us so much.
We learned how to write and form songs as well as experiencing what it's like to record in a recording studio.
Co-writing songs with a producer has been absolutely amazing.
The first song we recorded and released is called Summer Days. We released it on the 24th of October 2017 and it is taken from our forthcoming debut album 'We Are Cosmic Park' which we are currently putting the finishing touches too and will be released on Ethical Earth Records early next year.
Summer Days is a good representation of how our album will sound. All the songs on our album have a similar thread running through them. Due to our age the subject matter of our songs are kid related. We felt it was important to appeal to kids of all ages and to send out a positive message. We hope adults like us too.
We have been played on several radio stations across Ireland, the UK (including BBC Radio) and the USA. We have also been featured on TV and in several newspapers, online magazines and blogs which has been amazing.
The attention we have received on radio, online and through our local media prompted the village we live in to ask us to turn on the Christmas lights this year which was a great honour.
Ethical Earth Records are putting together a UK and Ireland Schools tour for us next year which we are all extremely excited by.
We are really looking forward to improving as a band through the experiences of playing live.
We all really love the whole creative process of writing and recording music. It is something we feel truly blessed to be able to do at such a young age.
We have been heavily influenced and inspired by other bands which pushes us to make the best music we can.
One of the best things about starting a band so young is that we have so much time to learn about and discover all the wonderful music thats out there. We learn something new everyday in music and hopefully that will help us improve as we go forward with our band and our music.
This musical journey has been a roller coaster ride so far and the best thing is we are only getting started.
