Aly Cook | Global Minstrel - The Journey Of Singer-Songwriter

2016 has seen Aly Cook make groundbreaking moves in her musical career with 3 number#1 hits etched in her musical belt. These songs have emerged from her newly released 2nd album ‘HorseShoe Rodeo Hotel’. ‘Midnight Cowboys’ was the first single to shatter the previous glass ceiling for Aly, with this song paving the way for further number#1 success with her singles ‘Message in a Cloud’ & ‘Kimberley.’

‘Home’ was the first single from the album to achieve success with the song reaching a top #20 position on the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 Chart along with her unreleased track ‘No Phone No Mail No Internet’ charting at No#5 on both Australian Country Tracks Top 40 Chart and on the Hot Disc Country chart in the UK.

Natural talent as a singer songwriter has seen Aly Cook create an amazing eclectic album that rightfully showcases her musical diversity as a recording artist.

Aly recently expressed “I just write my songs & they fall where they fall. I don’t write to fit a particular genre … they are from the heart.”

Aly Cook

Aly Cook’s musical biography reflects a roadmap of adventures that have led to songs written about everything from the breathtaking Kimberley region of Australia, the “midnight sun” in Norway, travelling on Sydney Trains, to sitting with no phone, no mail and no internet at The Dag Sheep Station near Tamworth. Visiting Uluru she heard the spiritual message Kulini “listen” which led to a song written with Graham ‘buzz’ Bidstrup (The Angels/GANGgajang). This song has since been recorded by Johanna Campbell becoming the title track of her EP released in July 2016. Aly intimates “anything can become inspiration for a song.” This approach to her music has led Aly to write with insight, originality and honesty.

Along with her musical success Aly was recently recognised as a Finalist for ‘NEXT' Magazine New Zealand Woman of the Year in the Arts & Culture section, for her inspiration to women to follow goals with passion and for her exceptional contribution to world causes. Quite admirably, Aly Cook is a believer in using her gift to benefit others. Whilst preparing for her recent European Tour Aly was approached by the founder of The Forever Changed Campaign to write the song for the cause. Without losing a heartbeat Aly penned the song ‘Forever Changed’ that is currently being played globally in a documentary of the same name about informed choice of treatment alternatives for cancer.

Over the last couple of years her performances have included opening for Melissa Etheridge, REO Speedwagon, and Huey Lewis and the News before 20,000 people in Taupo NZ, opening for Roseanne Cash in Poland, Laura Bell Bundy in Italy, and performing at the Sydney Opera House for The Jimmy Little Foundation Fundraiser.
